Snatch Grip Deadlift and Sumo
« on: February 26, 2016, 06:21:29 AM »
Since I've been doing Sheiko style training, I've done all deadlifts and deadlift variations (deficit, off blocks, etc) using a sumo stance because it's my competition stance. I'm currently running the Large Load Prep Cycle II from the app and week 3 day 4 has me scheduled to do snatch grip below knees off blocks. I'd like to know why exactly the snatch grip is used and why it's done off blocks for this particular workout. Also is doing the deadlift variations with a sumo stance how the program is intended to be done and if so how do I the snatch grip?

I'm pretty sure that it's to get the benefits of a block pull at the bottom of the movement (Hips) as well as to get the benefits of a snatch grip pull from the rest of the movement. I might be wrong though.

interested in more opinions.  I also have a primary deadlift of sumo but I have done the programmed deficit deadlift exercises conventional style.

Sheiko himself recommended that deficit pulls are done from the same stance as your competition deadlift.
