Elite Lifter Programs- Number of Lifts
« on: July 22, 2015, 07:37:56 PM »
I recently calculated the number of monthly lifts for some of the elite programs posted. Keep in mind this does not have average intensity of each lift and if the program went for 6 weeks I only calculated the first 4 weeks to make the comparisons even. Thought this could possibly help others if they're brave enough to try one of these programs. My hat goes off to anyone who tries or has done the Abramova cycle!

Abramova Prep Cycle       1,976 lifts in 1 month
Podtynny Prep Cycle #1  1,237 lifts in 1 month
Podtynny Prep Cycle #2  1,259 lifts in 1 month
Fedorenko Prep Cycle     1,240 lifts in 1 month
Sergey Mor Comp Cycle   894 lifts in 1 month

Boris also mentions here that Belyaev used 1417 lifts while Sivokon went up to 3112. Sergey Mor aside you can see that major reason for disparity is weight class. Fedorenko and Podtynny were +100kg and thus performed less volume due to less endurance and ability to recover. Irina performed more likely because of gender disparities in strength potential and endurance. Sivokin was apparently a freak!

I personally use 1200-1300 quite frequently and have gone as high as 1500 I think but I'm pretty sure I had a few injury issues at that level and avoid it now.

Boris also mentions here that ... Sivokon went up to 3112...

I can't even get my head around that! Do you know, was this with 8 training sessions a week?

I am not sure but I would guess so to be able to fit all those lifts in. He also mentions that Sivokon used to do insanely huge bench pyramids.

I am curious about the Sheiko's bench pressers (nowadays), yan urusov and medvedeva.

How could be their training look like, considering the specialization in the bench, and the natural evolution of ideas of sheiko.

My prognosis
(considering the ancient 3 lifts programs):Yan urusov/Medvedeva
Number of bench lifts - 600/1000
Frequence - 4days benching/6days benching

Would be great if The Coach could explain this, to bench courious like me  :)

How do your arm tendons cope with this huge volume, and do you do anything particular to protect them ?

I can easily cope with the fedorenko prep for squat and especially deadlift, but i'm having crotical tendinitis from the bench.

ellbow sleeves, NSAID's and cissus quadriangularis aid it a bit for me
