Dealing with illness
« on: February 25, 2015, 01:52:10 PM »
Any advice? I have been building up for a comp on 7th March. Have been using cms-ms comp prep. I have had to miss a couple of sessions due to a flu type virus. Should I just start again from the next workout or put more workouts in and not have any days off?

The typical procedure for dealing with illness is to take time off if needed. Then your week back cap all lifts at 70% but do the same volume. Next week cap the lifts at 75%. Back to normal the following week.

Thanks Robert.
Really frustrating as only a week before comp that i've been training all year for. GB Masters.

You would normally have a couple easy weeks after the competition so you could do what has to be done at the comp then take it easy after. The week prior is also easy so it's not too bad.

Are you using any supplements to keep your health up? Lay-outs like sheiko are pretty taxing and can leave you balancing on the thin line between getting ill and staying fit. You can really benefit from taking vitamins, they can help prevent you from catching a virus/cold/something in the future.

Pretty healthy diet, can't remember last time I was ill. Just bad luck I think. Feeling better today, back to training tomorrow.
