Goals for 2017
« on: December 21, 2016, 02:29:21 PM »
Decided to do this little fun thing, to hear about goals of you powerlifters out there. Goal is to be understood in a broad way, so it can include non-powerlifting sportsgoal (for instance weight lifting etc).

So what are your goals for 2017?

Thank you for asking. It was fantastic :D
  • Squat: 85 kg (+10kg from last PR check)
  • Bench: 52.5kg (+7.5kg)
  • Deadlift: 115kg (+15kg) I think I could manage 117.5
For 1 month (from last max check) as beginner I think is not bad progress.
and I need to add one more goal for 2017.. get stronger to make my training friend stop saying that I'm weak 8)

very good!
We all want to get stronger, that is why we are here, seeking knowledge :)

I have a few competitions under my belt and best total of 700 in -83. I want to beat that, but 2017 will not be that year. I would like to recoup whatever strength I have lost and lose kilos i have gained during my period abroad. so 2017 goals are not that interesting for me - it is all about getting back in shape.

I am 40 and relatively new to Sheiko and powerlifting so this year I'm working on improving the big three lifts.  My numbers are Squat:230, Bench: 205, and Deadlift: 285.  My goal is to end the year at Squat: 290, Bench: 220, and Deadlift: 335.  All weights are in lbs.  Being so new to lifting I think these are realistic numbers to work toward but nonetheless, I consider anything more than what I have an improvement.

My main goal for this year is 530kg total in -83kg. (I need 527.5kg just to get to nationals)

So, based on that it would look something like this:
Squat 165 -> 180
Bench 120 -> 130
Deadlift 200 -> 220

are there quota on how many people that can participate in the nationals? or is it just to make certain there is a certain level?

Great question. I'm not sure, at least I didn't found it anywhere, but I think that there's not that many lifters that they would have to limit the amount of participants.

500 wilks raw.

And a total of 910+ :D

It is impressive to follow your progress over the years with sheiko.
Did you get to spend some time in Denmark?

915 is needed at 160/162 to have 500 wilks :)
Thanks! No not this time, just went for the championship. In the past I spend some time in Copenhagen and Roskilde.

Thats true, I was calculating with a Bw of 155.

I see you bought a magnetic board from a friend of mine, for boardpressing. What do you think of it?

Are you going to Minsk, in June for worlds?
Edit: I can see you are going, wish you the best of luck!

With 2017 more than one third gone I'll give it a go:

  • Getting leaner in -105kg class
  • Hitting 190+ kg raw bench
  • Getting in the top3 in Classic benh nationals in September (Denmark)
  • Hitting around 240-250 equipped (IPF) bench at the nationals in November.

So far I really like them Good size for gym bag and easy adjustability. Did 2 board press sessions with them so far, all was good.

Indeed prepping for Worlds now :)
