Squat Form related.....
« on: November 23, 2016, 05:29:09 PM »
Hello guys.....

Could somebody explain to me why leaning forward in the squat is not recommended here on this forum?

I learned to squat via the book ''Starting Strength'' where leaning forward is recommended.
I tried to stay more upright yesterday but if I do this my back looks like a banana in the bottom position otherwise if I squat like in Starting Strength I am straight from top to bittom.
I just want to know whats the reason behind it.

This image is not me but it shows how my squat looks like

I moved it to biomechanics as it is more fitting.

You want the bar path to be vertical in squat. By leaning forward in bottom in squat, you are likely to not squat in a straight line. That is what wall-squats and front squats are for.
