Trying to see if Sumo fits me. help!
« on: September 26, 2014, 10:54:59 PM »
Today I had the first session with Sumo DL, due to I wanted to try a cycle with it to see i it fits me and also because I thought my leg str. is lagging behind. Previously I only did sumos in my warmup sets + I took the time to work seriously on my mobiltiy to get into proper position.
Spontanously I decided to rec. 2 sets to get some critique on it. What I really try to focus on is to not turn it into a wide stance conventional...already made my own critique but wanted to hear an objective opinion. Hope that the video quality is good enough to give an estimation.

Help much appreciated! :-)

1.st angle;

2.nd angle;

I'm much stronger with conventional but I've never trained sumo, so maybe I'm catching up my conv. Quickly if the style is something for me.

So, help coach sheiko!!! And ofc. others as well ;)

Hips rise up in the beginning and it's pretty much all back from there on. I think you're right calling it a wide stance conventional. It's not surprising though since this was your first session. Keep those hips down and use more legs to balance out the load between your legs and back.
