SeekingBench Press Bar Path Advice
« on: January 29, 2019, 12:50:33 AM »
I am seeking advice on what I should be working on for my bar path for the bench press. Here is some photos with the bar path traced for each rep.

Rep 1 - Descent is more vertical and closer to the feet. Ascent comes closer to the head in a diagonal pattern.

Rep 2 - Diagonal Pattern on the descent and the ascent very similar to the ascent on rep 1

Rep 3 - Same as rep 2 with slight deviation

Rep 4 - Same as rep and rep 3 with with slight deviation

Rep 5 - Descent is the same as reps 2-4 ascent comes closer comes closer to the head

So I am confused as to how my bar path is supposed to look. Should every rep look like rep 1? Or reps 2-4? Or the last rep?

How much weight is this? and corresponding intensity. All the reps should look the same? Do you "re-set" after each rep or are you making each rep as fast as possible???

It is 80% for set of 5, with each rep paused, so it's a pretty hard set.  As far as resetting I don't quite know what you mean by that.  Do you mean resetting the scapula position and the arch?

I certainly don't try to do the reps as fast as possible.  I pause for a moment at the top of each rep.

What was I meant. Kilos? It looks good, but perhaps work on that initial starting position for the first rep.

I was thinking the same thing about the starting position.
