Doms from squats

Hi guys.

I get really severe DOMS from the squat sessions. To the point where I can't train them again for 4-5 days.

Could I run the first prep cycle but do half the number of sets. Then repeat it and add one more set each time I do the cycle until I do it in full?

At the moment I am just so sore it's stopping me training again for 4-5 days.

What do you guys think?

Afternoon James,

it's normal to have soreness after workouts for a few days, but if it's to the point where you cannot train
again for 4-5 days, that sounds like you have gone into this program directly from a program where
your intensity and or volume was likely much lower. if this has been consistent i would suggest that
you consider running another Sheiko program with less volume. What is your total and weight class?
Also make sure you are attending to your recovery with enough food and sleep.

Hi guys sorry I missed your replies.
Thanks for taking the time.

My all time best total is 512.5kg
But right now it's probably more like 400kg.
We had a babya couple of years ago and whilst I was still training, certainly not with the same intensity/effort.

I have also recently moved to a more quad based squat as I kept getting adductor problems from my previous stance.

Yeah this is my first proper go at Sheiko. Since putting in my recent numbers the app has suggested the intermediate medium load cycle.

Any suggestions?

DOMS on squats normally is part of the adaptation process. I repeat the adaptation(1) a few times for example, while seeing how you can improve recovery.

I'd strongly suggest foamrolling the painfull muscles to greatly improve doms recovery
