Title: Decent (powerlifting) gyms Scandinavia
Post by: Chreiz on August 06, 2014, 01:25:07 AM
Hi all,

Since I'll spend some time in Scandinavia soon and I don't want to stop training, I was curious where the good gyms are located. I will mainly be in Copenhagen, Stockholm, Oslo and Bergen, so if I can find a place in those cities I will be happy.

Cheers

I may have a contact for you in Copenhagen.  If someone from there chimes in they'd probably know more but I have a friend from there at least.

Thanks! Though in Copenhagen, I might have found something :

http://thegym.dk/ (http://thegym.dk/)

Which looks very good and offers single training prices too.

In Stockholm you will have a variety of powerlifting clubs at your disposal. STK (aka Sundbybergs Tyngdlyftningsklubb / Sunbybergs weightliftingclub) would be my recommendation. Many of swedens finest powerlifters train at the place. It's big enough, with lots of weights, barbells, machines and lifters.

There is also SAK (Stockholms atletklubb / Stockholms athleteclub), a nice little place in the basement of an apartment complex, many weightlifters there though, few powerlifters. Only the most necessary things.

Lastly, you do have SATS in Stockholm, a fitness chain, however with the recent trend in sweden with fitness, SATS in Stockholm is actually housing a lot of good equipment and spacing. A few of our own wayward members lift there occasionally.

EDIT: All places are quite within the central area of Stockholm. I know that there are even more lifting clubs around the place, but I do not know their names in particular.

Thanks guys, by the time now I have made contact with some guys in Bergen. Searched for some gyms in Oslo and found some things, but any inside info would be great. Will also head towards Trondheim on the end.

You can try to contact Anne Marie Hveding on Facebook. She runs Oslo Powerlifting Club(Oslo styrkeløftklubb). http://oslostyrkeloftklubb.no/ (http://oslostyrkeloftklubb.no/)

The powerlifting club in Trondheim is called KK-67. I think Marthe Elverum trains there. http://www.kk-67.com/ (http://www.kk-67.com/)
